Low Vision Clinic

A client using a digital magnifier to read a magazineWe refer into the NHS Low Vision Clinic which specialise in helping people with significant vision loss usually from conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, or diabetic retinopathy—maximize their remaining sight. Unlike a standard eye exam that focuses on diagnosis and medical treatment, a low vision evaluation focuses on function.

The aim is to provide tools and strategies that allow you to continue daily activities like reading, cooking, or using a computer.

You'll discuss specific challenges such as "I can't read my mail," "I'm afraid of tripping on stairs," or "I can't see the dials on my stove.

You test various aids, ranging from high-powered magnifiers and specialized filters for glare.
